- Vatican City is the smallest recorded country in the world and for a good reason, one that serves as the core of Christianity all over the world. Over the years, and especially following the Renaissance, the Vatican has become a major source of cultural significance. This is conveyed by the many artifacts within the Vatican Museum, as well as the St. Peter’s Basilica and Square, as well as the designs surrounding it.
- The Colosseum was not only used for hosting gladiator matches, animal hunts, or public executions, it was host to many other ancient sports, as well as dramas and public events. The Colosseum’s significance changed over the year, becoming the host of cultural, religious, and historical significance as it is known today.
- The Roman Forum used to be the heart of the great Roman Republic. It started as a humble marketplace, and then grew into the core of ancient Rome’s religious, commercial, and political activities.
- Palatine Hill is where it’s thought that the mythical founders of Rome, the brothers Romulus and Remus were adopted here by the she-wolf, Lupa. It bore witness to many iconic historical moments from the birth of Emperor Augustus to the end of Emperor Caligula, and then some. It was also a popular location for many of Rome’s notable figures, whose names and handiworks can be found in the ruins of the many antique structures that are present on this hilltop.
- Trevi Fountain is named after its feature as a 3-way street. Constructed in the mid 18th century, this fountain is popular for its customary “coin tossing” practices. But also for the baroque sculptures of the statues at display here.
- Spanish Steps, a 135 step massive stairway built as a diplomatic gesture, and encompasses many notable landmarks: Villa Medici, Piazza Di Spagna, Fontana Della Baraciana, Salustiano Obelisk, just to name a few.
